FAQs

Gran-U-Lawn

  • How soon can I allow my children and pets back on the lawn after a lawn treatment?

We recommend waiting for approximately one hour after treatment before allowing children or pets to re-enter the lawn area. This timeframe ensures the treatment has adequately settled.
  • What causes brown circles in my lawn? Dog urine?

While pet urine can indeed cause brown circles, it's not the only culprit. These spots may also indicate the onset of disease or insect activity in your lawn. A professional assessment can help determine the exact cause.
  • How can I tell if I have grubs?

Several signs may indicate a grub infestation. Look for starlings or skunks digging in your lawn, as they often feed on grubs. Additionally, brown patches or grass that easily rolls up like carpet can be telltale signs of grub activity.
  • What is the normal grub season?

While you might notice some grub activity in spring, the most severe infestations typically occur from mid-August through mid-October. This is when grubs are most active and potentially damaging to your lawn.
  • Can I cut my grass after I've had a treatment performed? If so, what is the time table?

Yes, you can mow your lawn after treatment. We recommend waiting at least one hour post-treatment before mowing. Our wetting agents ensure that broadleaf controls are fully dried on the plant leaves within this timeframe.
  • Do I need to water my lawn after a treatment?

Generally, watering isn't necessary after our treatments. The exception is the grub worm preventative application. If you're unable to water it in, the treatment will remain effective at the soil surface for up to four weeks.
  • Is the treatment effective if it rains immediately after it was applied?

Most of our treatments remain effective even with immediate rainfall. The broadleaf weed controls may be slightly affected, but our wetting agents help ensure that even light showers have minimal impact on the treatment's effectiveness.
  • Will Gran-U-Lawn treat my lawn if it's covered with leaves?

Our technicians assess each lawn to determine if leaf coverage is excessive for treatment. A light scattering of leaves typically doesn't impede our service, as our granular products can easily reach the soil through scattered leaves.
  • What are the best times of year to plant grass seed?

Fall is generally the optimal time for seeding, specifically between Labor Day and October 10th. While spring patching is possible, newly planted grass often struggles to survive the first summer heat wave.
  • What are the best times to water my lawn?

For optimal results, water your lawn either in the early evening between 5 and 7 p.m., or in the early morning between 4 and 9 a.m. These times allow for proper absorption while minimizing water loss due to evaporation.
